Early Morning Car Thief
July 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: Video Submission. This customer purchased the Logitech WiLife video security system after his laptop was stolen out of his truck sitting in the driveway. The same night, others in his neighborhood were also robbed. He set up the security camera to watch the driveway. His system has grown to 5 cameras. “Though I dont always check the recorded segments every day, on June 21st of this year, I was at my computer and decided to check the video from the early hours for Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st. I was surprised to see that I had captured someone peering into my truck with a flashlight at 4:00 AM. He then walked across to my sons truck and tried the door. Both trucks were locked and so he moved on.”

High-Quality Security Cameras Record Hawk Flying by a Barn
July 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: 3rd Place. This customer installed the Logitech WiLife system at their farm because they are not usually there during the week. They always enjoy seeing the video that is captured by the cameras of the wildlife in the area. But it was this video that surprised and pleased them. While they were reviewing the video footage at normal speed, they saw this shadow on the ground and then a sudden flash of movement across the screen. They then started the video footage over and reviewed it frame by frame. What they discovered was that a hawk passed by the camera. At a 10 fps capture rate, the hawk only took two frames to traverse the cameras entire field of view. But the images from those two frames, they said, are stunning.

Neighborhood Car Thief
July 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: Video Submission. “During the early hours of June 30th, 2009, someone smashed the rear window of my wife’s car and made off with her cell phone and cash. The following day, I purchased the Logitech WiLife system with one Indoor camera (watching the front entrance through a window) and an Outdoor camera (which monitors the driveway). We also installed a motion-activated security light over the driveway. Nine days later, the camera captured video of what we believe to be a neighborhood teen attempting to enter the car. It appears that the security light spooked him. We have not identified the teen yet, but have a good idea who it may be.”

Snakes on the House
July 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: Video Submission. The video from this customer’s Outdoor camera was recorded at 4:16 AM, July 9, 2009. They had no idea there were snakes this large around their house. They think the snake fell out of the palm tree and onto the corner of the garage roof. Then, they explained, it must have slithered and fell down in front of the camera. Because it never bumped the camera, they assumed it was at least two feet out from the camera.

Secretary Attempts a Hurdle Kick in the School Office
July 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: Video Submission. This customer writes in to say: “we forget that these cameras are running at all times so on this particular day, I was demonstrating to my principal a hurdle jump maneuver that I had done during my lunch period. The other secretary and I had been walking the track during lunch and we had been pretending to do hurdle jumps. When my principal came into the office, I proceeded to show her my ‘one legged hurdle jump’.”

Wallet Thief – (watch for guy highlighted in yellow)
June 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: 2nd Place The customer who submitted this video owns a retail outlet store. He thought it would be a good idea to invest in the Logitech video security system. His store is in Charlotte, NC and his office is in Cincinnati, OH, so he is able to monitor the store from his desk or even on his Verizon Smart Phone whenever I travel. The camera is mounted inside his store, providing a panoramic view of the entire store. Recently, a customer had her wallet (containing a substantial sum of money) stolen from her purse while in the store. The Charlotte/Mecklenburg Police were notified and investigated. His staff cooperated completely with the police investigation and were able to retrieve the exact video documenting the theft occurring by another customer in our store. The staff provided the police with a copy of the video segment and this was most helpful in identifying the thief.

Laundry-Mat Crimes
April 2009 Customer Success Story Contest: Video Submission. This customer is an apartment manager of several apartment complexes with coin operated laundry machines. The laundry machines at one particular laundry room kept getting damaged by a tenant or tenants. Often, they would find the mechanism broken or inoperable. One incident cost us over 0 to repair — the crook jammed tools into the coin mechanism to try to get at the coins. Only a day after replacing a lock on a service door, someone had already broken the lock again. So the customer installed the WiLife camera. The very next day, he caught the culprit and filed a police report.
